ISE I Money Lesson: An integrated skills lesson

ISE I Money Lesson

In this PDF download, you can find an integrated skills lesson to use with your Trinity ISE I students. The subject area is Money and the lesson is about the richest people in the world and how  they become rich.

How to use the ISE I Money Lesson

The lesson begins with a brief discussion about some of the richest people in the world. The students have to look at pictures of some billionaires and try to find out information about them. Next, they talk a little about whether they would like to be rich and how rich people spend their money.

In the next part of the lesson, the students have to complete an ISE style long reading task. There is a text about rich people and how rich people think and the students have to complete 15 questions – 5 paragraph heading questions, 5 find the true statement questions, and 5 sentence completion questions. This should give the students good practice for the Long Reading task in the ISE exam.

Following this, there is a further discussion where students react to what they have read in the text. Then there is an extended writing task where students write a letter to a friend telling them they have just won some money on a lottery and what they are going to do with the money. This will all help the students to consolidate the language of the grade and improve their writing skills for the ISE I exam.
